I just got the new Model Aviation and noticed an ad for "emachineshop.com" Pretty novel concept. You go to their website, download & install their CAD software, draw your latest gizmo, choose it's material and machine tool(s) of choice, get an automatic price quote and email them your order for a gazillion new widgets! I downloaded the CAD program and so far it looks pretty good. Doesn't save as .dxf though.

There was a thread over at e-groups about that. I DL'd it and tried it out. It looks good on the surface but has too many obstacles in the way. For example every line needs to be started by choosing a tool even if you want to use the SAME tool for more than one line. I found it to be like being forced to sharpen your pencil between each pass down the ruler. Annoying to say the least. It's a shame too because the rest looked really nice for basic stuff with all the RIGHT bells and whistles there for the asking. Actually it would probably make a decent enough CAD trainer but anyone would soon want to move on thanks to that one super annoying feature.
