Yesterday I fixed the lack of proper lamination problem on #4 cowl by mixing up thinner resin and lightly pouring over the areas and then spreading around, that also penetrated resin into the holes between tows and actually laminated both surfaces together once resin got in between.

Yes n No Paul, once all trimmed out you will see why i laminated these with carbon, basically carbon is reinforcing area of flap doors and there frames that i will make later on.

Hey Sammy - If you brush the part with the epoxy and put it back in the mould (after prep'ng it again..) you should get better results with less finishing.

OK James, i'll take ur advise on cowl # 1 that is only left to do....Others were laminated with Carbon inside the mold though, but i didn't brushed on the resin first instead, i applied it with old plastic card...

Cowl # 2 is also reinforced with CF, this one had been roughly trimmed at the basic lines of the outer edges of flap doors and exhaust port cut outs.

After taking these pictures, i went and fixed the air gaps by using medium CA!, worked out well actually.

Finally all CF work inside the cowlings is now complete!!!

Just finished reinforcing Cowl #1 with CF, i used James advise plus didn't placed this cowl inside the mold as i did with other 3, well i'm very very happy how this one tuned out as no air gaps formed and i was able to work with resin a lot better then when placed in the mold.

Well guys, i'm taking few weeks off from the Constellation for number of reasons and will be working mainly on my big Concorde model.
It needs more of my attention at this stage where as Connie is all there now. Plus i also want to finish upgrades on the big Mustang and get it out of the way too.

Well guys it look as the build will re-start on this Constellation model in week to 2 weeks time frame. I was told by a friend that he can get aluminium coloured carbon fibre weave cloth for me to make the aft domes of the cowlings but it didn't materialized as he can't get hold of this buddy of his, so I went online looking to see what I can find and VOULA!!!!. I have found a source in US who carries various colors and types of colored CF raw material plus many other items. Next weekend I will place my order to get 4 yards of Aluminium CF cloth and it's special resin, this way I can make domes plus add thin layer of this stuff on the already made cowlings.....

Heck if i can get better deal, i'll order enough to cover wings, lower belly and stabs with this stuff!.......

Got an interesting call few days ago from Pakistan International Airlines retires committee that does annual dinner get together for there retired airline's staff here in Canada. They some how have found that i have made this model and now they want to see it in person at upcoming event in few weeks. So for now i will start preparing it to temporarily paint it in PIA's 60's S Connie's retirement livery.

I will post pictures of painting process soon. Since its electric model, i will be painting it with Tremclad paint systems, inexpensive and good paints from past experiences.

Spent last 6 hrs primering the fuselage and the inner wing, then sanding it dry first followed by wet sanding it with 400 wet/dry paper.
It's good to see all the hidden imperfections with good single coat of gray primer, it took all this time to hand sand many spots on the tailplane area and then on the wing where nacelles join in with the wing. This is very time consuming and tedious step but a lot has been done, more to sand and then filling will start with auto glazing putty.

Yes Paul, not just arm but both shoulders and upper body as we just came out of Ramadhan, so not enough nutrition in me as yet but my passion took over it....lol

Nonite i will fill all the pinholes and imperfections with auto glazing putty, will try to do another coat of primer but if not then first coat of
White will be sprayed on it tomorrow during the day at some point. All 3 fins will be white also, then i will spray green on both outer fins. I will also make fuselage cheat lines around the same time.

Outer Nacelle's compartments have been filled in as i see more risk in placing batteries in them due to vertical shock upon landings!
Not to say that all landings are text book perfect but why take risk that could break the wing due to so much weight on outboard nacelles.

The outer nacelles are still close enough to the main gear that the weight load of the batteries shouldn't be that much of a structural issue. You really want to keep the wire between the ESC and the battery as short as possible to limit loss and reduce ripple which can damage the capacitors in the esc.

Started water sanding with 400 wet/dry paper, went through whole aircraft first and then second round of applying more putty started.
This filling and sanding process will continue till whole surface becomes smooth as baby's skin for painting...

Sam also using two different colors for priming helps as well, in addition to the putty. Doing this in addition to the glazing will keep you from going through the epoxy and hitting the glass, and allow you to see the areas that need more filling. for me one of the most frustrating things when finishing is getting the resin on the glass so thin the fabric starts to show on the surface.

Paul, what other colored primers do you suggest apart from Gray....I can get white, red and yellow here easily but not sure which will work best under White colored top fuselage.....

All you need is something that will contrast with each other so you can see any rough spots. With a white top coat go with the white primer as you last color...

The white paint I bought is dual type of system, it's primer and paint together!, so i'm considering to do masking and then spray white tomorrow morning...

After 2nd round of wet sanding, model was washed with fresh water and left tilted on left side in the sun to dry!....

Just finished doing last bit of body work, will be starting to do masking followed by painting white on the fuselage, center fin and on the outer sides of both outer fins...Pics will come soon.
