This site is online since last friday, there are 250 registered users and from those 134 are effective user that replied to the activation email, from those 134 I manually entered about 10% its the posts you see here and a few more in rcgroups. The remaining 116 users are almost all registered with free.mail accounts, a few exceptions do exist of course, but from what I could see, I can guess that about 70% of these are hotmail, yahoo, a few gmail, a few lycos...the largest number its yahoo and hotmail, thats very clear...

I could stop using this code verification method but That could be dangerous in a site like this, this is a "share" site so must be able to communicate with the users regarding various subjects.... If I don´t require the users to include my email in their "clear" email senders list right at the beginning, later if I need to email them it will be almost impossible.

I can certainly understand the need and agree that the registration process is necessary. If nothing else than to discourage spammers. Anyone that makes available or contributes resources are definately an asset to our community.

If you have not already done so, you might want to drop a post in the following topic http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_1563599/tm.htm . It has a running list of Free Plans sites and it would be good to see your site listed in there as well.

I'll live with it until you get the bugs sorted and then delete it. I have yet to register myself but it's great to see another free plans site. I'm sure it's a lot of work but it's a great service to the hobby what with some of the traditional model magazines falling out of existence.

And by all means pop a reply into the Free Plans sticky thread with your URL link. But please also mention that registration is required.

Dozens of foamies plans were added to the site.

The Activation email feature is no longer used...After spending an entire day activating accounts, changing passwords and replying to people I decided to stop using this feature, now, only file uploads are human monitored...

The site has now about 7500 files, from plans to models photos and videos and even marklin model trains vintage catalogs...much more to be added

what is "your" purpose in having individuals "register" in order to get FREE -- whatever?

hi,

The software I´m using on the site requires registration in order to create the shopping cart, I think this is the reason

at the beginning I thought that if this was gong to be a "share" site then I would have to have the users email addresses for the case i need to contact them... but as I said before that activation emails idea turned out to be a big headache to me so I stop using that method...I don´t create these "methods" they are options available in the software...
