Those of you who cut your own foam cores. Give a swipe with a candle down the edge your template before you hot wire it and see if it cuts smoother, or tell me it's my imagination.

The only problem I see there is that the wax melts instantly and gets on the foam, making it bad to glue stuff to. The glue won't stick to the wax. I just use formica and make the edges really smooth. Cuts great.

I use graphite (carpenters pencil) rubbed into the template cutting edge (smooth, radiused formica also). Really slippery. Zero template wear, burning.

Mine are smooth Formica too. Just makes it slipperier. Is that a proper word? Not enough wax to get on the foam.
