Default Question on V-Tail included angle

Hi

I'm busy designing a 2.5m electric floater (260mm cord S3021 foil) with a V-tail.
The included angle on the v-tail is 120 degrees at the moment.

My question is if this is an exceptable angle or is there a more optimum angle?

I would like to hear other peoples take on this.

Cheers

120` could work well. The most mentioned angel I hear is appr 110` as a good place to start.
Have checked some planes I own/know, typical hangracers. They vary between 106 - 113`... But one of my oldies (Ka3) have a lot more!
I assume you are on the right track
Anyway, you might have to use differential throws on the rudder input, and this you have to try in practice. If the plane yaws, dives or pitch up too much when you use the rudder optimicing is needed.

I have two scaleplanes and one electric glider using the S3021 airfoil and it both floats OK and when you push the stick it wakes to life

Thanx for the input.

I think that I will pull them up to 110 and see how it goes. Might need to enlarge the tail planes slightly to compensate for the larger angle from horisontal. [8D]

The vee angle is mostly regulated by the control configuration.
Where you want/need lots of rudder.. for rudder-vators, no ailerons, the smaller angles 110 or less are used.
When there's ailerons as the main turning control, more relaxed angles.. 120 degrees or so are common.

Thanx Paul

This will have a poly wing - no ailerons, rudder and elevator only. I'm trying to keep her as light as possible.
