Default AutoCAD 2000

Does anyone know if AutoCAD 2000 runs on Windows XP-SP2? I am about to install XP, and am weighing my options.

Yes! No problem.

XP home edition
XP pro
XP pro 64 bits

I think it even works on Vista but I'm not sure...

If you were closer, I would give you a big hug and a kiss:-))))))))))))))) I was so concerned that I was going to have to dual boot, get another computer dedicated to AutoCAD, or learn another CAD program; none of which was very attractive.

Thanks a bunch

Les

p.s. Microsoft compatibility does not list XP, but Vista recommends that you buy an update.

I dual boot between 98 and XP and it is not a problem. If I end up going on vista I will stay with dual boot rather than having to learn a new CAD program

I needed that for both Modelcad 95 and also to run my ancient canon bj330 printer which will print on continuous fanfold paper - very very good for plans.

XP would run the printer but kept putting in a blank page between each printed page and I could not pin down how to stop the program doing that.

We were running Autocad 2000Lt on XP pro at work. At home I run R14 on XP Home Edition SP3.

Thanks, guys. This is all very comforting. Now all I have to do is finish reading the XP book, and see what I need to watch out for.

Tried to install R14 on a home edition of Vista and it wouldn't allow it to install. It required the Vista Pro edition. Microsoft has made some restrictions on the type of software which would install on the home edition, which is what gets packaged with most computers. I won't be up grading to it too soon.

Les...

Have you been to CADTutor? Is gotsa talk there about obsolete CAD systems. Better to ask your question there.

I once used ACAD2000 and it kept fouling up due to Windows ME more than anything else.
