Default RE: Calcomp plotter

I have a question about a Calcomp Techjet 5536 (inkjet) Printer/Plotter. It is used, in good shape and I've never printed with the machine yet. Anybody there that is familiar with this monstrosity?

I turn it on and When the printer starts to initialize and then it asked for roll media and I load the roll media paper and then I get message(s) : "adjust the media edges" - I then raised the dust cover and release the media feed mechanism (pull down the gray bar), adjust the paper if necessary, raise the media feed mechanism , close the dust cover, the initialization continues and the paper moves in and out a couple of times, cuts off a 2 inch strip then the paper backs up just behind the front rollers then print carriage moves all the way to the left and then back to the right and then the the red error comes on and gives me the message : load media again, paper jam - I roll the paper back out and the front edge looks clean, unwrinkled or crimped. I tried a couple more times and the same thing happened - and I can't get further than that.

If I were to try sheet paper, I select the cut sheet media in the menu and when I insert 8 1/2 x 11 (or somewhat larger size) paper instead of the roll paper it either says : "remove media" or "end of roll ".

Any HELP in any /all category(s) w/ my questions would be appreciated !

You are writing of a 10-20 year old plotter now. Seen it's days. Should be using the NT3 driver set for the 5536 as a B&W.

But it sounds as if the sensors at the ends are either dirty or out of whack. You need to telephone around, like to Lorand and find someone who knows it still.
Once going is very fast as I remember.
