Default which filler???

What type of filler do most use for smoothing out a turtle deck that was made up of several sticks.
It was done with 3/32 so I cant sand into it to much. I was looking for something light and easy to sand, so I can just add a thin coat over everything.

Any ideas??? Also where can I get it??

Bill

There are plenty of latex based hobby fillers around that work very well. Their biggest problem is their weakness so you can't use them for large holes or gaps. You can also use the paint store fillers. They are a heavier but since you usually don't use much it doesn't make much of a difference. I use a mixer of Z-POXY Finishing Resin and Sig micro balloons for the large areas. It does not sand so easy so I leave room for a layer of latex filler for the final sanding. 3/32 is thin for this kind of work. Use 1/8 or thicker next time. It will allow you to sand a lot more and get the surface you need. Dan.

Try using a light weight spackling compound. It is available at any Walmart or the like. It is easy to apply, easy to sand and most of all light weight.

I second Jim19.. It's what I use.. if you have large areas or dips.. those should be filled with balsa and sanded smooth. the spackling will feather to nothing.

i'll 3rd light weight spackling from lepage. I have been using it through out my S Connie build, it's been great so far and i think i'm on 6 or 7th medium siz container of it. Works real well on wood as well as on foam.
