Faux aluminum?
I built a 1/4 scale Eindecker like airplane. The engine make enough thrust to equal the weight of the plane, 22-pounds.

I will fly it soon. If I like the way it flies I will attend to details. I will lathe spin an aluminum cowl. I also want to apply or paint something on the front of the fusalage where aluminum is on the real airplane. Here is the rub, the construction is mostly polystyrene insulation foam covered with kraft paper. Over the paper is a wash of carpenter's glue then it was painted wiht the Krylon water based latex spray cans. I can't just spray it with aluminized enamel, it would melt. I was thinking of epoxy wash then aluminum foil. I do not want it to liik like a baked potato though. Maybe those disposable aluminum baking pans that are used to bake turkies. Another idea is epoxy with aluminum powder in it. Then again that might look like a disco ball. Is there a flexible sticker material that looks like aluminum? How about painting it with epoxy then spray can aluminized enamel?
Someone must have run up against this issue...

If you decide not to go with FliteMetal you might also want to take a look at the aluminum ducting tape for HVAC systems at your local home improvement store (ie. Lowes, Home Depot, Ace, etc.)
