RE: F-104 Landing Gear
The landing gear for the F-104 formed the basis for the gear on the F-16s. They were trying to use off the shelf parts wherever to cut costs. They would be a good place to start. There are many pictures of the F-16 lg on the web. Good luck with your project, please post some pictures.

RE: F-104 Landing Gear
I have found enough information now and will start CAD'ing some designs up, these are not for a standard size version so will need to be custom. Thanks for the replies.

RE: F-104 Landing Gear
Philip Avonds supplies a near scale set of landing gear for his F104 kit. SEE [link=http://www.avonds.com/]CLICKY[/link]
There are some good pics there too.
Mine has the non scale Springairs but I have seen the scale gear and it seems to work well and be reasonably robust.

RE: F-104 Landing Gear
I know all the old manufacturers and there stuff is ok, but again this is for a large scale scratch built version. 1/4 scale will be using a AMTTitan. Doing it all now in SolidWorks then will get the plug cnc'd out and make a mold of it.

RE: F-104 Landing Gear
If the pic whith the very detailed landinggear was of Heiko Höft or Wolfgang Weber it was in 1/4 not 1/5! I think i have read about them crashing, maybe the gear is for sale!

RE: F-104 Landing Gear
Thanks for that I thought it was smaller scale. I will be using hydraulics rather than air so best to CAD from the ground up.

Cool! Would be nice to see what you come up with! I spend most my time building and designing the landingears. Very low tech, i might add. Its almost like the aeroplane is just something to attatch the gear on. Not really but you get the drift....

RE: F-104 Landing Gear
Started some rough CAD work and it looks like it should work, the turbine is a AMT Titan for scale and that should work fine.

RE: F-104 Landing Gear
Done some more work coming along nicely, got to adjust the wing angle and bring them closer into the fuse. Will start the tail section today and then do the intake section on the fuse.
