You might try looking for a Sig kit. The Somethin' Extra or the LT-40 Trainer are great kits and the instructions are very well layed out. You can learn a lot from them and the planes fly well also. Those kits can be ordered staight from Sig Mfg. That said, I ran into a great hobby shop in Calgary a couple of years ago. I don't recall the name, but the basement had so many kits I thought I had died and gone to heaven As far as transfering the plans, I get copies of the original plans from a graphics copier that does blueprints. The last plan I had copied ran me about $2.50 per sheet for a 3x5 size. Then you can rough cut out the paper patterns from the new copies and spray glue them onto the appropriate wood and cut and sand them to shape. Hope this all helps. Curious as to the plans you have acquired if you feel like listing them.

Your in Edmonton, why don't you check out the local hobby shops. www.greathobbies.com (Canadian) is online, and they do have a retail shop in Edmonton.

I'm not familier with some of these plans, but most appear to be plans from kits. So details such as formers and wing ribs might be missing. Only exception is maybe the Seatrainer from Model Airplane News. Most of these plans are probably from unavailable kits. I noticed you have built a LT-40. Was this a kit or the ARF? Go to your LHS and find a Sig kit, 4 Star 40for a first kit build.

Good Luck

Jim

chrisp32,

From a kit perspective I think the Top Flite Contender is great. The kit offers design alternatives like adding flaps, or alternative wing tip designs. It is realtively easy to build and the Great Planes instructions leave very little to the unknown. When you are done you have a really attractive airplane that flies absolutely great. You will love it/ I think you can purchase the kit from Tower Hobbies for $80-$90. After you are done you will have learned a lot of building skills and possibly be ready to cut your own parts from plans. Good Luck,

Keep us posted on your progress.
