Default RE: FIRST SEAPLANE GEE BEE MALLARD

The Gee Bee Mallard was also my first sea plane: in retrospect I probably could have made a better choice. To begin with it is only three channel. Knowing what I now do I wished it was four. It is also cursed with one of Gee Bees plastic floats which does nothing to help it get airborne. For power I had a OS 25 standard which is non too great power wise so some of my problems stemmed from there.
It did fly though but was nothing spectacular but then neither was I. If I had to do it over again I would put a bit more power in it (probably a 25FSR) and add ailerons.
I still have the plans so who knows, maybe one day....
Peter
