Cessna on floats
I am thinking of getting one of those Falcon-Trading Co. Cessna Cardinal-on-Floats.
Does anybody know much about these birds? How well they are made? How they fly? Is repairs on them easy/hard? Any info would be appreciated!

RE: Cessna on floats
Still trying to work up the nerve to tell the Wife I want another airplane as my Christmas gift!
That Cessna does look great. Someone on here said they had that one AND the Ready, as well.
Maybe they will chime in on some details. I also would like to know.

RE: Cessna on floats
I have one with an OS .61 in it. I'll be flying it for the first time tomorrow if the weather co-operates.
Very easy build and everything fit perfectly. I think it's a good value.

RE: Cessna on floats
I had a thread on here about the FTC cessna, but I guess its old enough that it was deleted. I flew one all summer and loved it. I had their Ready on floats the summer before. The floats are the same as on the Ready and the Cardinal is a little heavier, so it sits a little lower in the water. I was concerned about that, but it turned out to be no problem. I have an O.S .90 4-stroke on mine and it was plenty of power. (Our lake is about 3000 ft above sea level). It was on step in no time and climbed out with power to spare. I'm think a .72 would be a good choice.
I ran under a barbed wire fence in a landing and scratched the wing deep enough to go through the plastic on the wing. I patched it with epoxy mixed with a liberal amount of micro balloons. Sanded it out and repainted it with no problems. That was several months ago.
I have the floats off for the winter, but I am still flying it. Its one of my favorites. I'm a real fan of these airplanes. I've flown the Carousel, Ready, Jupiter and now the Cardinal and liked every one.

Your Cessna looks great. I like the float color.
Here is my Top Flight 182 kit on Sea commander floats. This is at Lake Trinity CA back in July 2002. The cowl was not painted yet. And I had not put on the decals. I didn't get any pictures of it flying but it flys. It's got a Saito 1.20 Runs and flys great. As of now I still have the plane with painted cowl and decals installed as well as a cockpit kit. I mostly fly it at my field not on floats. I plan on flying it again next year on floats. I need to paint the floats.

RE: RE:Here is a pic of mine
What length are your Sea Commanders? How does the Cessna perform with them? Do you have any close up pictures of the attachment points? Is it easy to switch between the wheels and floats? I bought a set of 40" ones for my Cessna and am hoping to build it this winter. Just trying to plan ahead on how I am going to rig them for easy scale hook up and detachment. Do you think that the plane would fly well off the floats with a 91 4c? I have a new OS 61 with Pitts muffler, but would like to put a 4c in it and not have to cut the cowl.

RE: RE:Here is a pic of mine
How you modify the water rudder control? I use the original cables for the water rudder....very slow response. Do I need to modify or change to high torque servo? Pls advise.
Thanks.
Thanks.

If you look at the picture above of the plane next to the floats you can see the red tube that holds the rudder pushrod. When I put the floats on I loop the pushrod back to the Rudder control horn on the plane and hook it up to it with a clevis. Then I take a iwre clamp and secure the tube to the side of the fuselage. Works like a charm and it makes it easy to change back to the wheels.
