What engines for a Kyosho PBY Catalina?
My friend has a Kyosho PBY Catalina he is beginning to build. He is thinking of using two Hornet .15's because they are easy to cowl in. Is this enough power for this plane?
thanks

RE: What engines for a Kyosho PBY Catalina?
A friend of mine flew his on a pair of OS-20FP's with 9" props. Due to the limited clearance to the fuselage anything larger won't fit easily.
I have found 15's good for models that weigh 3 to 4 lbs, but the .20's and .25's (same case) from OS have considerable more power.
My vote is to go with the .20's

A fellow club member has the Kyosho Catalina and it flies very well with 2 OS15FPs. Plenty of power for takeoff and flying. The Catalina has a big wing which helps a great deal. Unbelievably quiet also.
Cheers!
