Where do you fly?
Where do you fly? I fly at Lake Willoughby in N Vermont. It's a beautiful glacier cut lake with crystal clear water and a beach with a low sloop--you can walk out almost 500 feet before it gets deep. Just beware that the south end of lake willoughby is the textile free beach. Sunbathers sans swimsuits, but the local n------ keep the beach clean and safe. Curious about where any one else flies in Vermont?

RE: Where do you fly?
hello; We fly at a local park on a bird reserve, there is a boat ramp, a playground set and a bunch of picnic tables, a big paved parking lot. The lake is about a square mile in area, and full scale float planes use it too.
We've been flying there on Mondays for nearly 30 years.

RE: Where do you fly?
On a small pond that's on the same grounds as our club's land field. It's part of the area we rent and is only ours to use. No boats, no swimmers, just our planes. This is a picture from the fall. As you can see there was little wind and my engine had cut out very near shore, but certainly not near enough to grab it (but it made for a nice, serene picture). After about ten minutes of little movement I ended up swishing the water rudder back and forth like a paddle and finally got it in (float flying is new here and I'm still working on good retrieval strategies).

I float fly right in my front yard. I guess I am one of the lucky once who live right on a lake. However I am still leaning. Only problems are alot of boat action and my neighbor with a Cessna 180. Also great place to fly off of snow once it warms up a bit.

RE: Where do you fly?
I`m going to be flying off the Oyodo River, Kyushu, Japan. That`s still a long way off though since I just started my Martin Mariner from plans. I`d say it`s at least six months away.
The Oyodo is a wide but shallow river, and where I`ll be flying retrieval can be just by walking out into the river. It`s probably not above thigh deep in the area. I`m really looking forward to getting this aircraft flying.
I`ve reduced it to 80.8 inch span from 101 inches (80%) because of size constraints in my apartment, and no garage. It`s a great looking design, and I just may go electric.

I load my planes on my pontoon boat and fly in my front yard. These are some of the pics I took with my Seamaster. Gotta admit it's pretty nice to live on a lake.
