Ventral Fin?
I have a Piper Cub that I am going to put floats on, and in the float manual it says they "strongly recommend"
you use a ventral fin on the bottom rear of your plane. Have any of you done this, or not done it? Is it really necessary?

RE: Ventral Fin?
I've been flying cubs with floats for many yrs and have
never mounted a ventral fin, I've not found it to be
necessary. None of the other people who float fly
with me have mounted them either.
If it makes you feel better, mount the fin.

RE: Ventral Fin?
I agree with Jerry, many cubs do not have this mounted. It doesn't hurt, though, except for added weight behind the CG.
I once flew with 13 other Cubs in an all-cub fly. It was easy to spot which Cub was mine - it was the only one with a ventral fin!
