RE: Laker protoype by Laddie Mikulasko !
Strykaas, the picture of yellow plane is first in series of similar planes I designed approximately 25 years ago. Most refined version to which I gave the name Aquastar, was published in Model Airplane News magazine in 1991. The plans are still available from them. The small picture is showing one of early versions together with original North Star. Strykaas, as you know, this NS was published in your MRA magazine in April 1987.
As a side note, the large twin in the back was all foam 11’ amphibious model I called ARK 1, powered by two .60 glow engines.

Thank you for so many details. So, MRA magazine statement was wrong (see my first post, photo legend), the Laker is irrelevant to the Aquastar.
The Aquastar looks pretty big. What kind of engine did you use for this one ? A .46 sized one or more ? And wasn't there any cg issue with all that weight aft the cg ? I guess some ballast was required up front.
I've placed an order for the Aquastar @ MAN.
Do you think that a twin pusher configuration with two smaller engines could be doable on this design ?

The Aguastar has 70†wingspan and was powered by .46 OS engine. I did put in some lead to balance the model.
As far as putting two engines in pusher configuration, I feel is not the best option. Much better would be to put them into the leading edge. It would help with the balance and prevent the water spray hitting the props. On my model, the prop is sheltered from water spray by the “skirt†below the prop. You will see it on the drawing. The model is great flyer.

Strykaas:
You ordered the plans, eh? This is one of the ones I've had on my "maybe someday" list for awhile. I love the looks and the high mounted pusher setup. I recently had two airplanes destroyed due to mechanical failures (an elevator servo arm and a wing strut bolt) so I have an Rx, some servos, batteries, etc. that could use a home. This looks like another perfect airplane for the OS 55AX.
Do you plan on starting yours soon? If so, maybe I'll go ahead and order the plans.

Ladi can the "Aquastar" be built with a simulated cockpit like the "Laker" has in the first picture?
Really neat looking little light aircraft.
