Congrats on your Seawind purchase. I own two, one is 95% finished and set up with retracts with a nitro engine, and a 2nd one still in the box. I may eventually build my 2nd one for water only and use electric power. I'm curious what others have used for electric motor in Seawind?

Nice! Before you decide to paint it try some fiberglass rubbing compound. That might bring the shine back.

I know this thread is old but curious if anyone has a crazy amount of lead in the nose like my seawind? I searched and found one guy but seems not a lot of people with issues on the lead weight. I have to add about a pound of weight in the hull, under the battery or engine compartment to get this thing to balance. That puts me around 12.6-13.5 on the weight 
. Rather not put that much dead weight in the plane.
I have another plane light that and really with the manf. Can an option to add and remove that weight instead of epoxying that dead weight in.
Originally it was running a GT-15, 15cc gasser. I now have a e-Flite power-60 with the esc and the batteries(two 2200 spektrum lipos) in the fuel tank location.
Everything else is factory. I have added airtank system but no retracts yet.

What engine are you using? I had to add a lot of lead in the nose, but I was running a .91 4-stroke. It made for a very high wing loading and required a lot of speed for take off and landing. Flaps were mandatory. I epoxied in most of the lead in the nose and then added the last couple ounces in a little balsa box that was wrapped in foam. The foam held it in place, and made it easy to remove to tweak the flight characteristics after initial balancing.

Looks like the last owner added a little extra nose weight. I am guessing that is probably of the heavier gas engine.

I removed a large 4oz weight from the nose and some more weight lead beads and balances at 2 1/8 perfect and at 2 1/4 slightly nose heavy…I feel much better now.
This is also with the air system installed without the retracts. I am sure if I removed the tank valve and nose servo it would be perfect at 2 1/4.

Well, took out a good more deal of weight off the nose. any more that I take out might cause damage to the hull. So stopping were I am at with the weight removal and will put a thing layer of epoxy to lock it back in. I made a firm decision to try and make this fully amphibious. The paint on it is really rough and has a few cracks. The paint is also color faded and gas stained. The last owner put a charge plug and switch on the nose of the hull, will fill that in. Will extend the step and repaint all white after it is all fixed.
Yeah I know, I know... make it one or the other
but I am up to the challenge. Worst case it will end up being water only but only after I at least try. Might be a few month project for me and finding gear is going to be the next challenge, else order new from Robart .

So found a guy near me letting go of two Seawind fuselages. One is in OK shape, just needs a little love to bring it back to airworthiness. The other is a cluster F***. Both have insane type repairs. One I cut off what was salvageable and my son is going to destroy it .
