I am getting ready to buy a Sea Cruiser from Hanger Designs out of Arkansas.
Is anybody built this model? How does it build and fly?
Thanks,
Jim

The Sea Cruiser is probably the best RC seaplane ever.

My information is that they are no longer in production. One of the guys in my club begged and pleaded with Hanger Designs, and bought a run of 10 kits this spring.

Perhaps HangerDesigns reconsidered their decision and are offering the kit again. That would be good news.

Jim,
I had e-mailed Bill and he told me he is not advertising anymore and is waiting for some more wood and supplies. I had flown out there at his club field about 5-6 years ago and he still remembers one airplane I had but not me.
I got one ordered but not sure where it will be here.
Our Field here has lots of water so the interest is greater.

I just test flew mine the other day from snow. It flew fine, I had it done for about 2 years but just never got around to flying it since I couldn't hook up with the other water flyers. I don't like the pushrods to the tail since they don't center and I am moving the cg back from recomended on the plans since it seems to fly too nose heavy. It is a nice kit the Saito .50 flys it fine but it isn't 3d. I just want to do T&G from a glass smoth lake on a hot summer afternoon.

I have been looking at the Sea Cruiser ads for years , always telling myself I should get me one. Out of production eh? Oh well maybe in another life.
Actually the Sea Cruiser looks a lot like an old Ken Willard free flight design called the "Drake". The Sea cruiser differs from the "Drake by having three vertical fins whereas the "Drake" had two. I enlarged a Drake once to a 25 sized model. It flew fine but I could never get it off the water. It did'nt have enough forward bouyancy in the hull and it always tried to play submarine when the power was applied. Sure was a pretty plane though.
