Anybody know of a kit for this plane? thank's in advance.

Yes,Yes! i want one too!-----i think we will have to create it our selves. there was a guy somewhere back east that built one.its' the only model i have ever seen. had it at the joe nall fly in. i think his name was john nicolci. he has had it for like 25 years.i am in the process of designing plans myself 118'' span for 2-120's.

you will have to let know what you come up with,I think this is a very sharp looking plane. I really like the split tale and the gull style wings. I want to do a twin and I thought if I could find a kit or even plans this one would be the ticket Personally I think it's alot sharper looking plane than the PBY's good luck on your plans and keep me informed.

Sorry man. I looked all over the net and all I found was 100's of those stupid solid wood desk models. Found just a few plastic kits. This plane must not be very popular at all. So if you make one you don't have to worry about showing up at a flat fly and seeing 10 others there.

As for me the PBY is uglier so I like it better. Too bad every one else dose also. So I guess when I take my future one to a big float fly I'll just line it up with the rest of them.

Look at it this way at least you will have one to line up with the others,as for me I will just have to dream and hope for the best.Happy flying.

OK lets get to work on this. I say we make one in 1/12 scale. This will give us a plane with a wingspan of 118" and lenth of 80"
I'm thinking two OS 108's for power. G&P Cat retracs for gear.

I'm just playing right now to see where the main formers should go.

Gee these lines get sloppy when I enlarge this vector up to 80". Oh well I guess I can make a full size print of it and then clean it up with some drafting tools. Right now this is just for fun to get used to this new program. I really need to have some real three views and a plastic model to be able to plot this thing out right. But at least we can see what where dealing with on the full size model.

I found a set of OK 3 views on the net. Problem is they don't have sperate images of the fuselage and nacelles so I have to guess at what the fuselage looks like behind the nacelle. That's where a nice 1/48 or 1/72 model comes in.

looksa gooda..... The Mariner didn't have landing gear tho...so that would simplify things a bit......

but SOME Mariners did not have landing gear....

Years ago Model Airplane News published a 4 page 3 view on the Mariner by either Wylem or Nye. I can't find mine at the moment but check with MAN and see if you can get a copy. It was super detailed as I remember.

$150 for a plastic model! Who are they kidding?

If someone could supply some plans I could make a mold for the fuse. Just a thought.

VISE101, I have a set of plans in 1/12 scale. I think it is 118" wingspan. If youare serious about making a mold I could look into having some copies made. This would be a bit expensive as there are several sheets of plans.

Jon L: I would be very interested in this project. Looks like a great subject. Have never seen a model of one of these.

Am currently constructing molds for an Otter(99"), PBY(114"), C-130(100"), possibly 2 sizes of Seawind(77&100") with another friend in the local club. Plans are to kit these planes. Actually the otter is already kitted and 4 are flying. Am just modifying the mold.

Am going down to Spokane for the swap meet on the 1st of March though. We have a table there next to the Robart dealer where we will be trying to sell some Otters and floats for them.

I have to reconsider my offer to provide PBM plans. After I posted, it dawned on me that these are probably copyrighted from the designer, a gentleman named Ed Zematis. I don't know his present location but will attempt to track him down and see if he still is in the plans business. Sorry about the "false start" but I will investigate further.

I found a 1/72 kit for $60 that looks good. I can't believe the price for these little plastic kits. One review said it took 200 hours to build. That's got to suck to spend 200 hours building a plane that can't fly.
