Default New to seaplanes

Hi I'm new to this forum. I'm thinking of getting a seaplane and just wanted to know how they compare to other standard planes? I've built 3 planes and flown a little in the past. I'm getting back into planes and want to try flying something different?

I was checking this seaplane out:

Is this a good starter? You can fly it on land and on water!

What planes? Do you have them now? If so, I'd suggest getting or building some floats and putting them on one of your current planes for starters. Major reason is that I had a plane quite like the one you mention for my first float plane and found it to be a bit of a handful with a bit higher wing loading and sensitivity to CG adjustments. You will love float flying, buit the first flights will have your knees knocking - seems that it's just knowing that you can't simply walk out to the plane when it stops or prangs - so the simplier you make it the better.

Not bad but I was hoping it would be gas powered. I'll check my local hobby shop today. Thanks for the replies

Hi

I have flown several sea masters and they fly very nicely.

The sea monster which i havn't flown, dpicted in your link is clearly more or less the same thing and rather cheaper than the sea master.

Make sure this type of plane stays watertight and wing/fuz seem is sealed with vaseline before each flying session, a plane with a variable centre of gravity is difficult to fly.

I would get a seamaster before a sea monster. the sea monster can be just that to get off of the water. the seamaster is a fine flying airplane.
