I'm going to make some floats for my avistar and i'm just wondering if [link=http://www.seminolerc.com/EZ-Float-Design.html]this[/link] is a plan to go off of,

Thanks,
Austin

yep. this is the definitive article for building and sizing floats. If you make your floats according to this, they will work.

I like to make mine wider at the bottom and narrower at the top(tapered sides), but that's just me. Chuck built and designed a lot of floatplanes and flying boats.

Ok, got them done today, They mount with zip ties (plastic ties), i used 2 for each gear! the main part of the floats is made with foam and i have two wood strips on the side for extra strength, the rod that the nose gear is mounted on is a light alluminum dowel, and the back dowel is woode just to reduce flexibility. It's covered with duct tape, i wasn't going for pretty with these floats, just functionability,

Ok, so here are some of the specs:

length-34"
width of float itself-3.5" 4 at top
total width-20"
heigth at step-2 7/8" right after step-2" end-1 1/4"
step is about 1" back from cg

I have to add some weight to the end of the floats in order to achive proper cg, so with the weight i have to add the plane will weighs 6lbs exactly without fuel

What do you guys think, Is she airworthy

Well as of this morning it looks way to windy to fly, the weather says 15-20mph all day
