elder 40 on floats
I just picked up a Top Flite Elder 40 Kit and plan on installing floats. I would be interesting in finding out from those who already fly one of these models with floats if they have any improvements that I should build into the model, like rudder size, motor size, etc.
I plan on using a .46 size engine and foam floats 36" long (assuming the 48" overall length).
Thanks!

Just a thought, but an Elder would look waay cool on old-timer floats, instead of the modern-style stepped floats.
I searched Google for Sopwith Floatplane and came up with this:

Take a look. The Elder would be much more scale-like with the short floats.

A great set up for the elder is three position floats
you have two mains and a taildrager float,
Looks and works great
If you look in my gallery I have a pic of the elder 20 I used to have
, unfortunatly you can't see the float in the only picture I have
They were very easy to make, out of foam, 1/32 ply lamanated, then a exopy resin finish
The tail high touch & goes were cool
