Does any one have any experience with this airplane as a model. It is a rather obscure Single float seaplane from WW2 that was more equivelant to the ruffe. 3 times the HP of the Kingfisher it was the pinical of the single float seaplane design. I have some plans in about 80" that are landplane but no float info. The float on the plane was an EDO.

Not that you probably haven't already done this, but I hit Google for images of the SC-1. Here is a link to what I got.

Elmshoot, There is a 1/72 plastic kit available for the SC-1. It has parts for both the wheel and float versions. There is a book called Fantail Fighters by Jerry Scutts, published by Phalanx Publishing. It has a little bit in the back on the SC-1. A few pictures most you have probably seen elsewhere. Do an advanced search at www.abebooks.com you might find a copy cheap.
I have several 3-views but I don't know how to attach them so I sent you a PM about them.

At the lower right corner of the message is a button marked "Post Reply". If you click on that, it opens a window with a mesage slate, and below that is "attach file".

Thanks Wayne, you have to teach me how to do that one day.
Elmshoot, you mentioned your dad flew them, I'm curious as to what he thought of them. A friend did some on line research for me a while back and got answers from an ex-pilot who did not like the plane at all. He also said it had a lot of technical problems.
You might find a suitable float from www.seacommander.com .Look under " other floats" . I'd have to pay for them in Canadian dollars so there way beyond my budget

I was going to do the same thing! I am going to use plastic models as a reference to build my float. My Dad remembered your dad's name! My dad was an electrician on the Chicago starting in Dec of 45. Small world!
This is a picture of E division in front of your dads plane, my dad is back row 3rd from the left...

Jim,
Thanks for the suggestion. I need 3 views of the float in particular. I have most everything else. Also if anyone has modeled this plane I would be interested. My dad flew them from USS Chicago during the bombardment of Japan.

Lord,
Small world indead! Nice to here from you. Unfortunatly my dad passed away in Jan 03. I'm still working toward doing a 1/5 or 1/6 scale bird I have a guy who will scan the plans into a computer and then blow them up to my size. Right now I am working on a Martin PBM Mariner that dad flew. Also preping for Top Gun and Preping my Giant Scale pylon racer. My plate is pretty full right now!

Hi,
I am also looking into getting this model, i have been told its being build from some plans. I like to know what you guys are upto as i think its very unique and very different type of warbird, I want to build mine as both land and sea plane version with dettachable floats on it.
What type of power are you guys are using on your model, i think Saito 100 would be good one for floats version.
