Hi all. Is anyone making a Supermarine S6B seaplane kit, or ARF?

Default S6-B

To my knowledge no one is currently producing one. I have been looking for a set of plans that are no longer published from Model Airplane News. The plans were for a S6-B .19 sized engine. I have posts on many of the R-C forums but have had no luck so far in finding a set. I was sent a set of plans for a S-5, also a .19 size. Sam was gracious enough to send them to me and allowed me to make a copy of them. If you come across anything let me know and I will do the same for you..

Thanks!!
Bud

Default Found one!

I was wrong - Sea - Commander r/c makes a large scale S6-B for Quadra 50-75 engines. It also has a price tag to match, but looks like a nice bird. Here is the link -

http://www.seacommander.com/kits.asp

I found this on another forum and thought that I would pass it on.

Now if I could just find one in a .40 - .60 size------

Don't know anything about the plane. It looks similar to the Seacommander plane though.

Check out the following URL:

Jim produces some very fine aircraft. I ordered a Supermarine S6B kit and should have it in a few weeks. I won't be working on it right away as I am also taking delivery on a 170" PBY ARF. I am going to be very busy for the next few months!

Hi Co-pilot

I scratch build electric float planes. I would like to make my next project a Supermarine S6B. Your .19 size sounds like the right size I’m looking for. Can you send me any info. I have built the Herr Aqua Star, 2 Big Stick types from my own drawings and am working on a Norseman with a 63” W.S. All these are electric. The S6B would be a great addition.

Thanks;

Bill

Hi Bill!

I have the article that Co-pilot has. He was kind enough to send it to me. The plans that he was talking about are no longer available from MAN. I tried to get them from them but they said they don't have them anymore. The article has a set of plans enclosed. I was able to have them blown-up to the original size from the article. I have both the article that I can scan and send to you, I can send you a copy of the original article in the mail, or if your interested I can have another set of the plans made and send them to you for about 10 - 15 dollars depending on copy cost and shipping.

There are no specs included in the article. After having the plans blown-up the wingspan is about 42" and a finished weight of around 2 pounds. It also has an engine rating of .10 to .23 and states that the larger engine size is more than enough. This article was done in 1969 and the author was using an O.S. 19. Plans also include the patterns to build the floats.

I also have a set of S-5 plans form RCM that is the same size as the S6-B.

Let me know!!

Bud

Hi Bud;

I sent you an e-mail with my particulars. Thanks for all the help. I will keep you posted as to my progress. I plan on scaling to 50+ inches. As I do everything electric I will outfit the S6B with a brushless motor possibly geared 2:1. I am presently working on a Unionville Kit of the Norseman which is the other end of the float plane spectrum – slow and sedate. At the moment it is about 60% complete. Hope to have it on the water in May.

Again, thanks for everything;

Bill

Hi Bill I see by the seaplane forum RCAIRPORT that Budd is helping you with S-6B plans.I have had several requests for this and other plans since joining RCAIRPORT. IF AND WHEN you do build it , I would like to be posted on results. My brother built the Cleveland kit about 1938 or 1939. It is not very big, 16 , 18 inch wing span. HE DID a flawless job even a pilot and foot petals and stick that worked the controls rudder ,ail, and el. Good Luck-----COPILOT
