Please allow me to be the first to Gush with praise. That is a fabulous covering job. Everybody at the lake is gonna stop what they're doing to come look when you show up.

Nice Job,
Jim

Fantastic job Hawk63! I had a Kavalier, but never put it on floats. Nice flying plane. My instructor had one too. I watched him put his into the ground in a spin. Later I spun mine many times with no problems. Nice plane.

Default stability

If you can "cant" the floats out a bit it will help a lot with stability.
Picture a vee hull boat with the center section missing. This will also help to keep spray out of your prop as well.

Where in Ontario are you?
Will you be going to the Port Perry float fly? We will be there to meet and greet, as well as do some wicked float flying.

If the toe-out doesn't work try some toe-in (like on your car). If that still doesn't work you can try a ventral fin like you see on some cubs.

Great looking plane. Like the RcCanada decal as well.

Default fixed skid

Hi Guys
I spoke to one of our local float gurus and he said to try reducing the wing incidence slightly. that seemed to keep a little more float in the water. Now I can use full throttle for take offs with relativly little yaw. flys great quite aerobatic fun fun fun .

Before you make any changes, try a little up elevator trim, while on step, which will drop the rear of the floats a little. The problem you are having is caused from too much float ahead of the step in the water. You need to raise the front of the floats and lower the rear. This will allow the rear of the floats to slightly drag in the water which will stabilize the situation. While on step, you want just the step and the rear of the floats in the water. If the little bit of up trim causes the situation to settle down, but the plane tends to take off too soon, then you will need to make some changes to the float struts.
Hope this helps........Seaplane
