Who has the best floats for this plane? Pre built or kit form I don't care. They can be foam cores as well. Also what size do they need to be? And what is the average price for a pair?

I am putting a pair of Planefun floats on an LT-40 this week. Planefun is operated by Ralph Smith, he can be reached at [email protected]. He makes a great float in the 40 and 60 size. The attachment points are already built in to the float tops, they are foam covered with balsa. As I re-call the price was around $70.00 for the pair, I thought they were well worth it. For that price I am more than willing to have the foam mess in Ralphs shop than in mine. I think you will be very pleased with these floats.

Be carefull of the plastic floats, they frequently leak and fill up with water. It's not fun trying to fly a plane with one float 1/2 full of water that sloshes back and forth changing your CG......Seaplane

My recommendation, though it's a little late in the season uinless you're a building freak, is the Goldberg Cub floats. They handle terrifically well on the water.....

Got some PlaneFun Floats from Ralph, they arrived yesterday. I want to compliment Ralph on his work, the Floats look fantastic!!!!!!!! And the price can't be beat in my opinion.

How do you guys mount them to your plane and do you attach braces for support between the floats?

Probably the best source of practical info for mounting floats is the Chuck Cunningham article here:

click on the "magazine pages" on the left side and they will blow up to be legible
