Ace Seamaster building question

Should I paint or cover the engine pod?
The directions don't tell you to do anything but it appears to be painted in the photo.
Also, the recomended CG is 3"~3 1/2" . What works best for the first time flying off of water?
Thanks,
tw

RE: Ace Seamaster building question

Hi,
I just left mine as it was (white) and applied the decals. I set the CG in the middle of the range and it flew with just a few clicks down elevator on the first time. Very nice flying seaplane. Does knift edge without coupling! You'll love it. I didn't even set it up for wheels.

RE: Ace Seamaster building question

The problem with the pod on the Seamaster is that it is poly plastic and pait won't stick to it.

Thanks for the tips.
So I will leave the pod natural, but what about the wooden pod assembly? Did you paint or cover it?
Not planning on putting the wheels on mine either.

RE: Ace Seamaster building question

Cover it.

It is also usefull to streamline the pylon, using a bit of LE & TE stock to clean up the shape. It significantly helps knife-edge flight.

The stock C-of-G location works well.
