I have run a stock Slash on 9.9v LIFE batteries and the drivetrain has held up great. And hardly any heat from the motor which really surprises me. But that is not 14.4. Just throwing it out there.

Well, the Wheely King is a tall truck so it does have more roll, but the straight axles make it look scale. It has great groundclearance so it is a decent off-roader. I think removal of a rear brace...

And I know you said single battery, but I recently picked up an E-Savage for $209 at Amainhobbies. The thing is a beast, has good speed, and is darn near indestructible.

How about a Wheely King? $184 at amainhobbies.com. Not the fastest truck in the world and you will have to waterproof it a bit. Go to youtube and search wheely king. All sorts of videos to look at....
