Thanks all for the great gremlin ideas. I've got a to do list going -- starting with change the bearings since this starts with complete engine disassy and inspection tonite. I didn't mention it,...

OS 46 with Macs pipe surging at high speed

This engine/pipe combo has run OK for years on a quickie 500 airframe. Now it can't seem to get enough fuel and surges at anything over 2/3 throttle. screwing in the high speed needle will lean the...

RE: YS 70 on a MOJO 60 ?

Ended up getting a LamYak 60 for the YS. Concensus was it built up a litter lighter and weight could be an issue with this engine on a 60 size slab. Pretty much flipped a coin between MOJO & LAMYAK

YS 70 on a MOJO 60 ?

Has anyone tried this combination? I had the YS70 on a MOJO 40 and it is an absolute rocket straight up full throttle and flies brilliant 3D at way under half throttle with a Zinger 14/6. Since...

RE: Scat Cat high speed flutter

Replace jet 50 with a TT40, no more flutter

Very tempting if I knew of an airframe that was as fast that flew as well

RE: Scat Cat high speed flutter

The only date on the scat cat plans is 1979 in reference to it wining the q500 nats that year.

Lousy weather here. It will be a few days until any flying takes place so when I get a chance to...

RE: Scat Cat high speed flutter

The fuse of the Spickler design looks nearly identical to the Scat Cat but the wing is built-up where the Scat Cat is foam core. The Scat Cat aerilons look to be about the same length great for...

RE: Scat Cat high speed flutter

Yes, the path to a rudder control horn is not simple in this setup. I'll have to improve the rigidity with a straighter run somehow. The 2" rudder looks a little big on this plane, but at slower...

RE: Scat Cat high speed flutter

Did you cut the fuse sides 3/8" shorter on the nose?
No, I built the fuse for a Webra36 piped, then decided on a Jett. I got it to balance by shoving batt & servos as far back as I could get...

RE: Scat Cat high speed flutter

Thank you all for the ideas. I taped the end of the ailerons, taped both sides of the rudder, and took her out for another test run today. No joy. Same flutter at close to the same speed. Looked...

RE: Scat Cat high speed flutter

The plane is covered with monokote. Yes, I wondered if the covering was coming loose and making the noise, but can see no evidence of that. This engine is past anything I've experienced. The extra...

Scat Cat high speed flutter

Can not figure how to get rid of the flutter on a newly built scat cat. Running Jett 50 (breaking it in rich w/ 9/7APC) and when it unloads in a dive the dreaded ROAR that sounds like a surface...

One of the rudder cables on my "Morris The Knife" (40 size) let go today and I'm thinking it's time to replace all 4. Does anyone know where to buy replacement cables? They must be the correct...

RE: RCEXl Ign on DL50

The plug cap on the RCEXL ign is bigger around and longer than the DL50 cap. The 6M-C plug in the DL50 will not reach the tip contact in the RCEXl cap. From the picture in the link it looks like the...

RCEXl Ign on DL50

Just rec'd the replacement ignition for the FTL 45 engine from Hobbycity. They said it was compatable with the DL50. I guess compatable is a matter of opinion. The spark plug boot is too big for...

RE: scat cat dihedral question

That's how the one that folded was built. The wing joiner block is about 10" long. The last one folded outside this and had about a 3" wrap of glass cloth at the center that stayed intact. I'm...

RE: World Models Fun Fly 3D 1.20

Started flying mine a week ago. This plane is not suited to big power. It flys a lot like a 35% plane. It wants to go slow and smooth. A beautiful flier, not a profile with a piped 46. A saito...

RE: Quadra 35 disassembly

Thanx guys. Got the flywheel off. Obvious bent crankshaft. Any ideas on repair? This is an OLD engine, but with low time. Winter is upon us soon and projects are lining up.

Quadra 35 disassembly

How do you get the prop hub and flywheel off an old Q35? It looks like the hub must be a press fit, but want to be sure before I start. The plastic points cover is loose and the flywheel is no...
