The only time you will have slop in the clutch bell(that will affect your mesh) is when your bearings are shot.
Side to side.... I tried shims but they wore down. IMO blue locite..tighten it...

ACt like you are opening a paint can lid and pry on it . You will have to keep moving your screw driver around to different spots. Its like they beat the collet on with a sledgeheammer, I know.
