The CDI that comes with is motor is rated from 4.8v to 6.0v . My battery pack wasn't fully charged as it had a 45min flight on a 6 servos sailplane, before to plug in the CDI.

This evening it seems nearly to start.... but the CDI has gone..... puff.... blowed up. 5 NIMH 2300 cells not fully charged.

also mine it is only the logical part, I kept the original CDI. With the second pickup I fire up the engine by hand, without any kickback. Soon I will share my code on my homepage.

I experience some trouble starting it inverted. It require many flip to prime, then it get immediately flooded and kick back hard. Holding the plane with vertical wings (the engine lays on his side)...
