Converting foam glider to R/C

My local hobby shop (and the toy store next door) both sell these big foam hand-launch gliders that look like 747's. They probably have a 3 or 4 foot wingspan. I wonder... has anyone ever converted...

Are all FM digital proportional radios narrow band?

I'm looking at buying a used ACOMS AP-472 FM 4-channel radio. I do not know how old it is, but it looks newISH at least. The box says it's 72.790 MHz, and that it will work for planes, boats, or...

Elevator/Rudder or Elevator/Aileron controls?

Well, both of these planes are stunt planes, so I guess I'm looking at ailerons. I'm glad I didn't try it before I knew, otherwise I'd likely have plane pieces by now. Thanks!

Charles.

Elevator/Rudder or Elevator/Aileron controls?

I'm converting my old Line Controlled planes to R/C, and I was planning on simply building a larger rudder with a hinged control surface, in addition to the elevators that are already there. However,...

draing the batts?

The last set of Sony 1800 mah NiMh batteries I purchased said they were good for over 2000 recharges. I do slow-charge my NiMh batteries, though (~5 hours). I always have one set loaded in the...

draing the batts?

Err, why not just switch to NiMh and have a battery that will never have memory, and is pretty much always going to work? I have NiMh batteries in my minidisc players, my CD player, my digital...

What is the best way to launch a glider?

Hi-Start? What's that? Are you talking about the giant rubber band, stake, and the special tensioner tool? Or am I thinking of something else?

Anyways, I've had great luck with this setup in the...

EconoKoat

I think my problem with the EconoKoat is that my local hobby shop didn't have the little miniature iron for putting the stuff on. All they had was the heat gun. While this makes doing large areas...

Oh, btw...

The engine I'm using is a COX Golden Bee .049 engine. It is identical in every way to the one pictured in this auction: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3130583353&category=34055

Okay, you guys convinced me.

You guys convinced me, and several other discussions on this board helped me along as well. I'm going to start out with the 3 channel Aerobird RTF. It's electric, which is a big minus because the...

First time building/flying a powered RC airplane.

Look, I'm just trying to get back into the hobby and see if I like it. I don't want to go to an "insured" event with a lot of hooplah. I just want to find an isolated field and fly for a while....

First time building/flying a powered RC airplane.

Back in middle school and high school I used to fly a radio controlled sailplane. It was made of styrofoam, and I must have crashed it 20 times. The thing was more 5-minute epoxy than it was...
