Although it would be easier to buy it already waterproofed, it won't be too hard to do it myself. And again, I'm ordering from Tower, which does not stock waterproof ESC's except for the lrp AI...

Yeah, I've checked out the Mtroniks ESCs, but I'm going to order from Tower. So, I'll just do the waterproofing myself.

I have heard that the Mamba Max system is waterproof, but no one seems to give a straight answer. Does anyone know for sure?

Brushless would be great but I dont have 200 bucks in my back pocket. That along with some other reasons is why I would like to stick with a brushed setup. Any suggestions as far as that goes?

Yep it will work fine. In fact, many mini owners running brushed setups often use ESC's designed for 540 motors.
