Hi

Yip the clutch spring is just a wrap around, make sure it sits nicely otherwise you'll be opening it up again to replace it or to reattach it...

Do yourself a favour and take the motor out, then try push it and see, my problem was the motor was not sitting right and the mesh was too close, once i sorted that...
