RE: programming flaps and aileron into one big flaperaileron

so if you have flaps which go to 90 degrees down you mix aileron and flaps as you reduce flaps? I guess I never thought of that as I was using the rule of thumb where you run the flaps at 50% of...

RE: programming flaps and aileron into one big flaperaileron

Been running them together for a little while now. It made a huge difference in control response. I leave them on all the time except when flaps needed. Great stuff!

RE: What radio for a new guy

I'm no expert, but I am also a certifiable new guy. I bought the 9303 for my first sailplane (my first airplane), a six servo 3 meter and I find it easy to use and certainly plenty of bells and...

RE: programming flaps and aileron into one big flaperaileron

I did get the JR 9303 sailplane radio. If you are familiar with that radio, which I would assume has many similarities as others, there are 5 modes you can setup; launch, cruise, land, thermal,...

RE: programming flaps and aileron into one big flaperaileron

So, if I setup the flaps to help out the ailerons, I don't set them up to align with what the ailerons are doing, I set them up to follow them, but with about 50% of their throw? Though I will...

programming flaps and aileron into one big flaperaileron

O.K. I'm too new to know whether this is a common practice or not. And, I actually thought about this the other day but I am trying to limit my noob questions to things I really need to know about. ...

RE: flutter in aileron and flaps

none that I noticed. Of course, not something I am used to judging since this fixed wing stuff is new to me. Since everything is brand new, I would assume everything is still tight.

RE: There has to be a better way

OK, you had to know this was coming, who sells them...is there a website. The tape thing I could get used to, if I have to, but I like fancy and the tape things a pain in the R's.
I have already...

RE: flutter in aileron and flaps

yes, I actually had written in my original post that I planned on doing that. I'm just going to solder one end. I was waiting to see if I fixed the problem before a soldered.

RE: flutter in aileron and flaps

as promised, the before and after shots. Photo with short horn and clevis further out on servo arm caused flutter, longer horn and clevis moved in fixed it.

RE: There has to be a better way

Exactly what I was looking for. Thanks for posting the pictures and the source. Just makes sense to me (having invested in a nice sailplane) to have a professional looking connection method opposed...

Would anyone have a good photo of these and how you go about installing them?

There has to be a better way

I'm a new guy (to sailplanes) and got one of those sailplanes that you have to use tape on to attach the wings. Before and after each flight you have to connect and then disconnect the aileron and...

RE: flutter in aileron and flaps

there's another thread running on here regarding flying alone or with fellow flyers. My experience is a great illustration of the benefits of flying with others, especially when they have experience...

A Banner day for me:D:D:D!

I replaced the brass control horns that I hacked down to little nubs and moved...

RE: flutter in aileron and flaps

I certainly appreciate everyone taking the time to outline something that I am sure must be basic to those with experience. Got to call ZB at Esprit about the horn he sent me as from everything I...

RE: flutter in aileron and flaps

What sort of wing servos have you had good luck with in large wing sailplanes? If the control horn I just put on and my moving in on servo arm hole still results in flutter, the hitecs are going. ...

RE: flutter in aileron and flaps

The flutter occured in shallow dive, not high speed, not under propeller power. It appeared that it might have been occuring in both the aileron and the flap. The bird is a Stork E, 3 meter moldie...
