RE: Extreme Flight Vanquish 2m Build Thread

One other point you might lose some weight on.. the CC ESC specs as very light, but the trick is, they spec it without the VERY HEAVY cables which are on there.

By cutting the battery wires on...

RE: Sebart Wind S Pro

So you both have what I describe, it pulls to canopy on straight downlines, hence the low throttle -> elevator mix.

As stated, there's a lot of personal preference in there. If you both were to...

RE: Sebart Wind S Pro

To have them both positive, is strange. +0.5 +0.1 would be the same as +0.4 +0.0.. with -0.1 downthrust in respect to what you have now.

It all depends on your personal preferences and flying...

RE: Sebart Wind S Pro

I'd say your setup is trying to tell you it's wrong. It's pulling on uplines, downlines and knife edge ;)

3 deg extra down and right thrust? why?!?!

All planes come from the same factory...

RE: Sebart Wind S Pro

I went the same route, got the same issue, the stab adjusters need 'adjusting' to get the stab at or near 0% in regards to the original wing setting.

Because it was still pulling to canopy on a...

RE: Extreme Flight Vanquish 2m Build Thread

No temperature gauge needed. Right after landing, hold your engine. You should be able to touch and hold it for at least 15 seconds. If you can't, it's too hot.

RE: Sebart Wind S Pro

I totally agree with you. Besides fences, I'm going to add weight to my plane. Not lead ofcourse, but battery capacity.

When dealing with sweep and the airflow introduced by that, it's the sweep...

RE: Sebart Wind S Pro

by 'roll instability' I mean it has the tendency to make small uncontrolled rolling movements. This is clearly demonstrated in this flight, especially the second half when the wind starts to pick up...

RE: Sebart Wind S Pro

So far, for me, they are doing fine after approx 150 flights with them. The issue is not that much the development of backlash during usage, but the fact that most of the supplied hinges already have...

RE: Sebart Wind S Pro

Regarding roll stability and wingfences:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wing_fence

The WindS has slightly swept wings, which means the LE of the wing is swept backwards at a pretty high angle....

RE: Sebart Wind S Pro

@Arch:

The supplied hinges are crap and this has NOTHING to do with the amount of glue used. Out of the box more than half of them already had backlash, so that's before even glueing them in. In...

RE: Sebart Wind S Pro

What works or doesn't work on the integral, can work or not work on the WindS, they are not the same plane ;)

The WindS without wingfences is not stable around it's roll-axis. This is exactly...

RE: Sebart Wind 110

No, not nice flying. Stop abusing this plane and start flying precision pattern. Either that, or buy a 3D plane.

RE: Extreme Flight Vanquish 2m Build Thread

He just maidened it. A maiden flight doesn't say much. Give him 100 flights on it, and then he'll be able to answer your question ;)

RE: Sebart Wind S Pro

I wouldn't do that, as it's not the kind of material that really glues well with cyano. Also it's nice to have some time to position everything right, so I would use epoxy, at least the 30 minute...

RE: Sebart Wind S Pro

I did it on one aileron only, and for me, the same method you used, worked. If they were glued at some point in time, you might try squirting some accelerator into the hole, maybe that'll fix it?

RE: Sebart Wind S Pro

I used Robart Steelpin Hinge points, the small size, I think about 3mm.

Downside to that is that they are marginally bigger than the original hinges, so you have to widen the slots in the...

RE: Sebart Wind S Pro

First thing to say is:

do NOT use the supllied hinges!

They are crap, yes they are, all of them. If you have 20 of them, 15 will come with backlash right out of the box, the other 5 will...

RE: Extreme Flight Vanquish 2m Build Thread

Please keep in mind that right now, Castle Creations is having a recall on all ICE HV ESC's. If yours is not marked 'ICE 2', you need to send it in ASAP, as it might burst into flames at any given...

RE: Extreme Flight Vanquish 2m Build Thread

One doesn't need a 2m plane to compete. I competed in the top-level class here in the Netherlands (F3A-A, P11) with a Sebart WindS 110, and didn't do so bad, considering I was new to the class and...

RE: Extreme Flight Vanquish 2m Build Thread

Offcourse there are little people in this context. The first Vanquishes didn't go to just everyone, but to friends, incrowd, sponsored pilots, befriended shopkeepers, and such. There's nothing wrong...

RE: Sebart Wind S Pro

Thanks! I have spoken with several WindS owners and also saw several fly. From what I gather, it can be rather hard to set it up right, to find the right CG (also a personal preference offcourse) and...

RE: Sebart Wind S Pro

No problem, all good tips are always welcome :)

I don't have any trim on it and on the video it does appear to be tail heavy. Probably because I lowered incidence on the wing, you still need the...

RE: Sebart Wind S Pro

Since any thread is worthless without pics or movies.. this is me at the Worldcup contest in Sivry, where I performed terribly bad, it looked like a 3 year old was at the controls :P
