The base plate is actually clamped in a vice with enough pressure to hold it in place.

This is EXTREMELY frustrating. Out of the box, the ECS stepping is fouled and overloads the windings on the brushless motor.

Is Fritz to scale? Was the cockpit really that tight?

The gauges turned out fantastic. Very convincing we're looking at a full scale aircraft!

So, if Kevlar is not the answer (and I echo the thoughts - working with the stuff is a real pain) what IS the answer. And remember, I'm working with 30" span electric R/C so steel cable is really out...

Well, the skis idea was completely tongue-in-check - more a reference to how fast this build is going for you compared to the DIII.
