Radio Hits!!!

When changing/trying frequencies go lower than 45-46. We have a field with interference and the higher frequncies seem to have more problems. When researching the problem I read that industrial R/C...

R/C terrorists arrested(?)

Thanks MikeL... Still hadn't caught the whole story.

You know... If most nutjobs weren't also dipsh*ts we'd all be in trouble.

Imagine if the shoebomber had a brain...

R/C terrorists arrested(?)

The crawl on Foxnews just had a headline about 9 persons arrested for setting up BVR r/c planes with explosives for a terrorist attack on gov't buildings (country unknown). Anybody got the scoop on...

ARF's are KING!!!!

Exactly what I mean... More (and hopefully better ARF's). I didn;t address builder's kits and kit stuff, but I totally agree that there will be less of that type material built and sold. Ours LHS's...

Cermark Pitts structual failures ?

Jim I don't know this guy nor anything about his story, but you might want to read it. I found it while considering this plane and it was a good read:

ARF's are KING!!!!

Whether you like them or not IMO they will increase the number of flyers in the hobby. And eventually our selection and technology will improve. Just in the short time I've been in it I can see this...

What you like/dislike at hobby shops

Warmonger,

Regarding Mike's, I'm also a long way from them (about 40 min.), but I make the trip every now and then because it's an awesome store!

ARF's are KING!!!!

That's crap... The pace setters as you call them are R&D guys and market research people at big companies now. It has nothing to do with an ARFer being a follower...

ARFS are a natural...

What you like/dislike at hobby shops

That is great insight Shaun... Retail is hard enough and even harder when the biggest distributors control big retail channels too (online, mail-order, etc.).

It is great though to see some hobby...

What you like/dislike at hobby shops

Point taken, but one giant mail order house already exists (and they own the mfg. and distributing for a bunch of brands) and the best way I can think of to combat it is to have more and better...

What you like/dislike at hobby shops

Hehe... Mike's is cool, but sadly almost an hour each way. All we have in my area is a couple small car shops and a franchise store that does very little plane stuff (didn't even have 15% fuel last...

What you like/dislike at hobby shops

Thanks for the input so far...

How about how much you buy online vs. in your LHS and why?

I personally buy most of my major purchases online because:

1) I can save a few bucks (online...

What you like/dislike at hobby shops

If you could design the "perfect" hobby shop in your area or online what would be different from what's available to you now (other than the obvious "lower prices" type comments)?

Thanks for the...

kyosho AT-6 Texan

One other detail I forgot... I tried to keep the exhaust hole in the cowl small and it made the 4-stroke overheat after a few minutes so I had to open a larger rectangle in the bottom to pass some...

kyosho AT-6 Texan

I chose a OS 52 and it was "scale"... Really needs a little more power (70 would be great). Great flying plane, but ground handling is squirrely (narrow gear). If you've flown bipes or other planes...

Ultra Stick 40.. Can it be a trainner?

That's what I'm talking about!

Ed is the first "long-timer" I've heard say that. If he'd been around when I was starting out I could have saved some money (and time).

Ultra Stick 40.. Can it be a trainner?

FWIW: I started (based on advice) with a high wing trainer and I didn't like how it flew then and I still dislike them. They are "mushy". Durin my first flights it was hard for me to judge its...

Surely someone has them online for less...

Can you over-rev in a dive?

Huh? Jett says not to use a regular fuel pump. That's why I didn't want to switch to a bladder (hassle factor).

Are others getting by using a normal fueler with these tanks?

How would you...

Can you over-rev in a dive?

Hehe... That may have avoided the whole situation I think :D

I can't say on these small tanks I've noticed a clunk that would ever reach very far forward. It seemed to have more to do with the...
