Spektrum DX8 Gen 2 New in Box

The radio was on display in my retail store, never been out of the plastic. The box was in the back room and had something fall on it and got a little crushed....

Will the 12Z and 12FG 2.4 FASST version work with all FASST receivers? I've heard that the 7 channel won't work with the 6 channel receiver and vice versa. Is this true also?
