RE: Flex cable lifetime?

Your picture is not coming up for me. The strut bushing is the little sleeve with the holes in it I assume. In any event they are all getting swapped, the flex wire, teflon sleeve, and the bushing...

RE: Flex cable lifetime?

By prop shaft sleeve, you mean the teflon liner for the stuffing tube? This is my first time hearing it. It really did not last long after I started hearing it before the whole flex cable severed...

Flex cable lifetime?

I have an SV27 I have been running for 3 years now. I bought a bigger prop and noticed a heavy vibration/farty sound on take-off that I could avoid by easing in the the throttle. Performance at...

RE: Super Tune Your Super Vee 27

It has been quite a while since Iposted in this thread. This will beyear 3 for my SV27. It has been through a lot. For anyone thinking about modifying theirs, here is my rough upgrade path.

RE: Savage X SS Brushless Conversion Build-Discussion

I a having a tough time believing HPI's speed claims unless they are hugely gearing it up. Their description is vague about the batteries. Are they running two 3S packs in parallel, or in series?

RE: Super Tune Your Super Vee 27

I am nowhere near patient enough to wait a whole day. If you are using the stock cheapo receiver, just pop the case off and use compressed air on it or the hair dryer technique. I did that many...

RE: Super Tune Your Super Vee 27

No I haven't. I have little LiPo experience. I went to A123 for safety reasons. The internal resistance of my A123 cells is below 50 milliohms consistently and running in a 5S-2P mode cuts that...

RE: Super Tune Your Super Vee 27

Have you actually used A123s? I use them in my boat regularly. Their only flaw is the odd nominal voltage. LiPo swaps 1 cell for 3 NiMH very nicely, where A123 cells are more like 2.75 NiMH cells....

RE: 2.4 Ghz Micro Wireless Camera from NitroPlanes.com for $44.95

That was another concern. I figure I will play with this cheap camera for now on my truck and boat. I will want a more serious system for a plane when I get to that point.

RE: 2.4 Ghz Micro Wireless Camera from NitroPlanes.com for $44.95

I will check it out over there. If its been proven, its proven. I don't need to crash my own plane, just wanted to know for sure.

RE: 2.4 Ghz Micro Wireless Camera from NitroPlanes.com for $44.95

We all trust 2.4 GHz radios to share channels properly. I just do not know if the video systems adhere to strict channel delineations the way radios do. I can understand two transmitters being...

RE: 2.4 Ghz Micro Wireless Camera from NitroPlanes.com for $44.95

Reading this thread and seeing the price I jumped on this. I got my order really quickly. I have only tested it in my shop so far but I was quite pleased with the video quality. The picture was...

RE: Super Tune Your Super Vee 27

I moved my Futaba 2.4 GHz receiver to the right rear corner and put a short antenna mast tube right at the back of the top of the boat. I put the receiver in a balloon, wrapped that with a Velcro...

RE: SV27 Battery Thread

I have abused a number of NiMH packs that I have made and finally got tired of cells needing to be swapped out after they vented or got really weak. I had two explosions in my boat that convinced me...

RE: Super Tune Your Super Vee 27

Today I tried out the Ammo motor I bought last year. I never had a chance to try until today. I figured rather than blow up another stock ESC I would upgrade to a Hydra 120. That part went well. ...

RE: Super Tune Your Super Vee 27

Boat is running well, batteries, not so good.

I had one of my first runs this year. There is always something to fix I find. Anyway, I plan to start using A123 cells soon but for now I...

RE: Savage X SS Brushless Conversion Build-Discussion

I have figured out my cooling fan/receiver glitching problem. The Novak fan I used puts voltage spikes into the electrical sytem. On my oscilloscope I found 60 mV spikes every time the motor phase...

RE: Savage X SS Brushless Conversion Build-Discussion

Well now I am confused. On my Savage, I put separate small fans on the motor and on the Mamba Max ESC. As soon as I started powering the fans, my Futaba Fasst receiver randomly locks up. The last...

RE: Savage X SS Brushless Conversion Build-Discussion

I have been doing a similar conversion on my truck. I had the motor shaft break off of my Novak HV 4.5 motor so I went for the Mamba Max and Feigao 8XL. I was surprised that the 8XL is really the...

RE: SV27 Props

The CF 48 puts you at the ragged edge of the stock ESC. I blew mine playing around with 14 cells. I backed off to 12 cells and have not had a problem since.

RE: VIDEO - Flying From a Moving Car, Cross Country Flight !!!

I for one thought the video was very good. I think he took some decent precautions. RC flying is unlicensed so someone flying at their house has no right to expect that their radio will work at...

RE: Super Tune Your Super Vee 27

Now that makes sense.

Keeping peak mph was why I bought the Geko, which it does. It has a 1 second update rate which is probably similar to the Forerunner. So it is actually a one second...

RE: Super Tune Your Super Vee 27

Are there multiple 201 models out there? From the Garmin site, Garmin 201 , click on 'specs' it is powered by 2 'AAA' batteries. This is the one I actually have. The 301 also uses 'AAA's. Where...

RE: "Quest for the First Bird" or "What Have I Gotten Myself Into?"

I am glad someone mentioned the simulator route. That is the way I am doing it. I bought one of the 2 channel Aerobirds 2 years ago and despised it. The only way to pull up was to add throttle, if...
