RE: MT70CC TWIN

I have my MT 70 in a Hangar 9 Carden Yak 54. I have about 5 gallons through it so far. It runs great, low idle and nearly 7000 RPMs with a 22X10 prop. It's a great matchup for this plane. I had a DL...

RE: MT70CC TWIN

Just wondering how you guys are mounting the prop. Do you use bolt alone or are you mounting a different way? Just want to make sure of a secure and safe mount. Thanks

RE: YAK 54 - 60 SIZE ENGINE FROM SEAGULL ANYONE?

With your os 75 it would be lighter. I have since sold mine but flew it probably 60 times. It does fly well faster and aerobatically. If one could lighten it up more it could fly better. The design...

RE: YAK 54 - 60 SIZE ENGINE FROM SEAGULL ANYONE?

You are right about this plane. It is too heavy for its size. I have since obtained different planes and this one for sure is awkward. It fly well fast but too keep it light is a challenge. There are...

RE: CRRC 40cc kit

I have Great Planes 27% Edge 540 performance series I haven't put together yet. Would this engine be a good choice? It's weight range is between 13 and 15 lbs. and the recommended Fuji 43cc engine...

RE: YAK 54 - 60 SIZE ENGINE FROM SEAGULL ANYONE?

I have to agree with vartegrich on this. The spar (or wing tube) is a good place to balance this plane. This plane really is best for basic aerobatics or even pattern flying. It would be hard to get...

RE: YAK 54 - 60 SIZE ENGINE FROM SEAGULL ANYONE?

As an intermediate pilot myself I would highly recommend the Great Planes U-Can-Do 60 ARF. This plane is amazingly forgiving and really fun to fly. I have an O.S. 91 four stroke in it and it works...

RE: YAK 54 - 60 SIZE ENGINE FROM SEAGULL ANYONE?

Glad you had a successful flight. I think you are right on the CG. I put my receiver battery directly behind the servos, but thinking of moving it further back. With the OS 91 it does still seem nose...

RE: YAK 54 - 60 SIZE ENGINE FROM SEAGULL ANYONE?

amarxyz . . . It looks like your set up will be fine. I just moved my 6v receiver battery right behind the servos and took of the tail weights. Haven't flown it since then, but I think it will fly a...

RE: YAK 54 - 60 SIZE ENGINE FROM SEAGULL ANYONE?

Anyway, I bought this foam Yak 54 Ready to fly at an airshow here in Oregon last year and is a blast to fly.

RE: YAK 54 - 60 SIZE ENGINE FROM SEAGULL ANYONE?

Sorry about your loss, Josh. My understanding is that the forward CG position is suited for basic aerobatic manuevers and the CG needs to be set at the back position or a bit farther for 3D and you...

RE: YAK 54 - 60 SIZE ENGINE FROM SEAGULL ANYONE?

I'm not a 3D flier and mine is not set up for 3D flying, but basic aerobatics, but the recommended CG measured from the wingtip is correct (between 6.5 to 7.5cm). You obviously want to use the CG...

RE: YAK 54 - 60 SIZE ENGINE FROM SEAGULL ANYONE?

CORRECTION FROM LAST POST: It's not a 13X4 prop but a 16X4 for that engine.

RE: YAK 54 - 60 SIZE ENGINE FROM SEAGULL ANYONE?

You've got the right idea putting it at the suggested forward CG to start with. Try a few landings up top (mock landings with altitude) so you can see how it responds at slow speeds. It does seem to...

RE: YAK 54 - 60 SIZE ENGINE FROM SEAGULL ANYONE?

It weighs 7lbs. 14 oz. empty. I have the 91 in it and I have added weight to the tail. I haven't had any problem with that, although I am an intermediate flier and only do basic aerobatics. I have...

RE: YAK 54 - 60 SIZE ENGINE FROM SEAGULL ANYONE?

Hi Mike,
Thanks again for flying it first since you've got more time with much bigger planes. I found out I had an air leak in my tank and my clunk hose was too long and pointed up in the tank. Fix...

RE: YAK 54 - 60 SIZE ENGINE FROM SEAGULL ANYONE?

Here are some more pics. First one is with a 15X6 prop and before I put the new tail assembly on. I also added some tape to the bottom of the wings for visibility. Second picture shows a voltmeter I...

Here is my Seagull Yak. You can see the taller landing gear, wheel pants from a Funtana 90, the Sullivan tail assembly.

RE: YAK 54 - 60 SIZE ENGINE FROM SEAGULL ANYONE?

I should also note from the above post that the negative dual rate basically decreases the movement of the rudder. I usually set my control surfaces for a full range of motion, so taxiing was touchy...

RE: YAK 54 - 60 SIZE ENGINE FROM SEAGULL ANYONE?

I need to download some pictures from my camera. I'll do that later on tonight when I get home. As to the rudder dual rate, I have a Specktrum DX6 that can change the dual rates on the rudder. Newer...

RE: YAK 54 - 60 SIZE ENGINE FROM SEAGULL ANYONE?

Flew my Seagull Yak 54 60 size this last weekend. I flew very nicely. I have an OS 91 FX in it with a little added weight to the tail. I am putting a few more ounces in the tail on my next flight....
