I'm planning of making my own battery packs out of a Dewalt battery. I've read somewhere that newer Dewalt batteries are not made by 123 anymore. Is this true? How many cells are there in each pack?...

It's impossible to use just one 6-7 cells. You need at least 12 cells ni-mh or 3s lipo. I think your best option would be a MM/Feigao 8xl on 12 cells with external BEC.

Do you believe in form-charging (C/10) your packs initially for the first few cycles?
I always charge my new batteries at 1C from the start.

How do I know if my motor is demagnetized? Will it still run? I was once running my rustler xl-5 with the stock gearing (23/86). I could not touch the motor longer than 5 seconds.
