sounds like your one-way bearing is shot. pull the starter plate off and replace the bearing. for a temporary fix, you could try soaking it in denatured alcohol until you get a new one.

The Mega Baja is another good choice. It's pretty much the same as the Aftershock, but with some upgrades here and there (includes the losi spin start). It runs around $400.
