With the stock brushed motor and battery I wouldn't worry about stressing the axles. If you convert to a brushless motor and lipo battery then I would keep a close eye on the entire drive train.

I used the 7.4V lipo on my Falcon with the stock motor and actually got better performance than with the stock pack (lipo is considerably lighter than the stock pack and the voltage doesn't drop off...
