RE: 37 University Club

Once you build your boat and install your radio, you then will have to set your radio up to match the control travel necessary for your individual model. Modern digital radios make this easy with the...

RE: 37 University Club

I'm sorry it's been so long since I checked in here! I'm sure you were waiting for an answer.
The story's pretty much the same wether you're building a plane, boat or car. When you buy a radio,...

RE: 37 University Club

Hi, Reinga-
Thanks for taking my news as it was meant! I felt bad about my response after posting it, hoping you didn't feel insulted. I got the impression it was a single channel unit from what I...

RE: 37 University Club

If you bought it new, I would contact the dealer (HobbyTron?) that you got it from (I googled "University Club 37" and they popped up as a dealer).
Since it's a single channel radio, it's almost...

RE: .21 Zippkit ready to go

Hi, all-
I haven't been active/participating in the past year or so, kind of put the boat aside. I happened to go to the Zipp Kit website last night, though- and say nearly every boat out of...

RE: R/C Laser receiver install question

That's what I figured, finding the piece of velcro under the deck... but I was adding my own receiver- didn't get it with the kit, so wasn't sure what to do with the antenna wires... would like to...

R/C Laser receiver install question

I just purchased a Laser sailboat without the rcvr/xmtr, as I have my own. I'm guessing that the receiver will install on the top of the compartment since there's a small piece of velcro already...

RE: Star 45 build started

Tonight I drilled the holes for the fin. I have 3 pairs of holes drilled, running the range of keelfin distances Star's have been built with, over approx. a 1-1/2" span... I will build 3 pairs of...

RE: Star 45 build started

It's been a while since I posted an update- but it's taken a while to clean up the inside and coat it with epoxy resin... but that's done, now I'm ready to start doing things like setting up the...

RE: Star 45 build started

Thanks, Al! I simply believe if something's worth doing, it's worth doing right. I want people to admire the work, not wrinkle up their noses when they see it! And I'm sure I got some of my ideas...

RE: Star 45 build started

As I put each strip on, I used TiteBond 3 along the edge- and a drop of cyano at each frame location. CA is not waterproof, but I figured it'd help hold everything until I resin'd the inside of the...

RE: Star 45 build started

The hull is finally off the building jig! A lot of work ahead now, cleaning up the edges, cleaning up the insides, trimming the transom down... then seal up the inside of the hull.

RE: Star 45 build started

The good old hand held palm orbital sander made quick work of smoothing everything up after a cursory block sanding. Here's a couple of pic's of it while masking off the sides/transom to glass the...

RE: Kiwi Mini40 Trimaran build log

As a matter of fact, Gary- I have a close friend just around the corner from me... he's a now-retired shop teacher, taught woodshop in middle school.
When I bought my house in 1980, he was...
