What about rule 3.5. Engine Shut OFF! vs. GMS?

Thanks Shmo! I'm interested in the Pipe you spoke of. Anybody know anything about it?? The Grass is FAR softer than the Runway, anyway, so there's no problem there. I practice on Grass. I...

What about rule 3.5. Engine Shut OFF! vs. GMS?

A 32 is too large for use in B-Open combat. Here are the engine restrictions:

Rule 3.1: Combat will be broken down into these classes:

1\2A = up to .061 cu in
A = up to .15 cu in
B = up to...

What about rule 3.5. Engine Shut OFF! vs. GMS?

I want some 25 or 28 sized engines for B-Open combat, myself. Any ideas?

GMS .25s and kill switch

Well, I must admit the price is nice. But if it won't shut down, then it may not be allowed in AMA competition - depending on the CD, I guess. That's a lot of latitude, though. Would hate to show...

What about rule 3.5. Engine Shut OFF! vs. GMS?

OK. Well, thanks for your replies. I guess either I seal these puppies, or buy something else.

Thanks again.

Will AMA still insure if CD waives engine Shut Off rule??

There seems to be a lot of references to planes flown in R/C combat circles running engines that don't necessarily Shut Off per rule 3.5 R/C Combat regs.

Does the Contest Director have the...

GMS .25s and kill switch

I beg to differ. Rule 3.5 of the AMA R/C Combat rules states a clear and unambiguous requirement for Engine Shut Off.

As the the CD's descretion, well, I'm not sure the AMA would agree, given...

Re: GMS .25s and kill switch

Hey John,

1) Did you purchase your engine directly from MECOA?
2) Did they tell you, at the time of purchase, or put anything in the box saying, that the engine would not shut down by design??

GMS .25 and .47 - Cant Shut down due to Air Leak!!

What about rule 3.5. Engine Shut OFF. The pilot must be able to shut off the model's engine by radio control with the airplane in any position.

That sounds quite clear to me. A .25 that will not...

GMS .25 and .47 - Cant Shut down due to Air Leak!!

Well, I suppose I could get another manufacturers carb, but that would defeat the purpose! I might as well just buy a more expensive engine. The Barrel leaks because it is loose. I think they...

GMS .25 and .47 - Cant Shut down due to Air Leak!!

Thanks, Flyhigh. I appreciate your candor. From what I can tell, it's a loose fitting rotating barrel. It moves when you wiggle it. I've sealed everything else and it's the only thing left. ...

GMS .25 and .47 - Cant Shut down due to Air Leak!!

Does anybody have any experience fixing Carb air leaks? I have GMS .25 and .47 and both will not shut down. I can't get a good setting on the .25 as it wants to run very lean. I have tried sealing...

To paraphrase a good line from the Star Trek Generations movie, "Time [Building] is the fire in which we burn."

sealing coro edges

I think the Gorilla, and the Pro-Bond are the same idea. I've flamed and cleaned off the coro with acetone as usual when I have used this glue with excellent results. It really works great on wing...

sealing coro edges

Sears carries Gorilla glue, as does most hardware stores. Its polyurethane glue, and must be used with water - follow the directions. What makes it good for the wing tips is that is foams up and...

sealing coro edges

I just Gorilla glued on a couple of tip plates to my Spazzler. When the glue dried, I trimmed them flush with the airfoil (nice, symetrical one). It trimmed really nicely with a combination of #...

What are you guys using for streamers?

Years ago, in C/L combat, we used to get matchbooks and tear the covers off. Then, we'd fold over half the cover and place it over the end of a crepe paper streamer. The crepe paper had been folded...
