RE: Hopping Hopper Tunnel Boat

The best chance your K&B has is the VS-1 tunnel, less weight , less drag , a great design and cheap too. I realise you have a mod engine but the VS-1 can handle a mild mod motor pretty well. I have a...

RE: Hopping Hopper Tunnel Boat

(1) Most of the current 3.5cc class racing hulls will porpoise if not pushed fast enough, even the Lynx will do it.

(2) The 290 does like a slight bit of negative prop thrust. This adjustment is...

RE: prop sugestion help? for K&B 7.5 outboard

The piped K&B 7.5 o/b likes the X447 but the muffled version can tolerate the X450. You won't really need to go to a 3 blade unless the power pulses of the two blade start upsetting the boat. Usually...

RE: Hyperformance O/B's

I have seen a lot of electric outboarders use their "Bullet Drive" but have never seen what you posted on the race ponds over here.

RE: FSR nitro boat ?

I must say it is a beautiful mechanical thing! Well Done on the clean-up, its a near miracle if I ever saw one.

RE: these any good for the $$$$

Risky,, could be just an airplane engine with boat flywheel and, sure is a Picco 45 silverhead looking water cooling head assembly!
Look at that carb!,, looks just like an O.S. unit,, that...

RE: Cool Power heli fuel?

The fuel you listed at one time had alot more than 20% oil. We use to call it "30/30", but I believe it had something like 28% oil.
This could have changed over the years, I don't know for sure but...

RE: Good .21 Engine

Concerning the Top21-7M, I found that many in Australia that had bought 7M's near the change to 2010 had 7M's with flat pistons with an angled squishband buttons. The combustion chamber was so large...

RE: Good .21 Engine

I like the Top21-7M (Marine), its around $270 and has some serious power! I run mine with a O/B conversion crank and PTO. Once you get the headspace right and heat it up, it will turn hefty...

RE: Technology Fuels

You can make good power with 30%. The up side is you can run more compression with lower nitro than you can with high nitro. "High Nitro" in my world is 60 to 70%, and that amount of nitro content...

RE: nitro motors..who still makes them

There's good things happening in the .45 I/B size of engines. Picco is back in production, A/A motors by Al Hobbs, the A/A's are made to be compatible with the long gone Mac motor line. CMB makes the...

RE: At wit's end!!!

I tried .006" and it wasn't tight enough with a severely cut down aircooled head. Running water thru its supplied head and the stock button & domed/dish thing would have never worked for O/B use. I...

RE: At wit's end!!!

Don't be concerned about 30% nitro, I run all my 21 O/B powerheads on 30%. Just wrapped up getting my Top-7M run in and that engine will pull a 41mm Octura 442 and a full 40mm Octura X640 with brute...

RE: Breaking in question

OOh, My kinda guy,, its easier to do alot of the break-in right on the bench with an aircooled O/B. I posted it on here somewhere don't remember exactly where.

RE: Breaking in question

The car/buggy guys really have an advantage here with the break-in. Dealing with water cooling on a inboard application can be difficult knowing your hot enough out on the water and still rich to...

RE: Topspeed 2 with OS .21 outboard running problems

Its a frustrating hobby when rough water is the norm in your area, especially with a 21 size tunnel. More power and more speed is not the answer in that situation unless the hull design is suitable...

RE: Topspeed 2 with OS .21 outboard running problems

Yes, shim the bottom of the mount out a little to get the pin vertical,,, or at a right angle (L) of the "bottom (rear section) of the running surface. This would be the "inside" edge of the "rear"...

RE: Topspeed 2 with OS .21 outboard running problems

Getting the hinge pin (steering pin) vertical is also important. The pin is actually supposed to be a "right angle" to the rear sponson running surface, so a small adjustable (slide) square can be...

RE: Topspeed 2 with OS .21 outboard running problems

Most tunnels porpoise when they're not being pushed fast enough,,, even the famous Lynx will do it. Use the smallest fuel tubing you can find and force it on the cooling head nipples. You can even...

RE: Miller American wont plane......

Hot batteries are the first thing, put in plug slightly loose, the person starting can hold the starter in one hand and pinch the fuel line momentarily with the other to ward off too much fuel. This...

RE: VS1.......... OOOOOPs..........

Less restriction of the exhaust can result in less fuel pressure for the tank and carb. Although it might be alright with the K&B, it can be a real disaster with the O.S. XM O/B with the muffler. The...

RE: os 9b carb

I haven't ran a 9B in years,, I had one on a K&B 11cc O/B for a while and believe it or not I didn't like its linear nature over the K&B and Geraghty carbs of the period. With the 9B, and all with...
