RE: Great Planes Sequence F3A

Not my choice either, worse is the Silver 7 ESC which comes with the Sequence if ordered RTF. Arming the ESC is rather scary for some as you have your TX at full throttle in doing so. Many forget how...

RE: Great Planes Sequence F3A

The magnets will hold until the first time you fail to lock in the canopy to the fusealage. Happened twice to me probably through distraction. I now use a screw at the top rear of the canopy. Also I...

RE: Charging at the field

I have not charged a whole lot off my car battery at any one flying session. When I do it's with a 50w charger and so the max current draw is limited (P=EXI). For example if I'm charging a 4s 3700mah...

RE: Great Planes Sequence F3A

Good stuff! Do you have to send the unwanted Sequence back to Hobby Services?

RE: Great Planes Sequence F3A

Sounds like the one you bought with $25 off and unreturnable was one already returned. My first one did have wrinkles that were hard to eliminate however the secong one was perfect in every way and...

RE: Great Planes Sequence F3A

According to that motor's specs it would be a good choice being capable of more than the 100w per pound. Sequence will be under 4lb.

RE: Would you pay more for US made ARF''s?

Well said LDM, for there is something for everyone in this obsession! I built them for many many years but now have gone to ARFs. The thing I found is I could breath freely again, balsa sawdust and...

RE: Great Planes Sequence F3A

I really think I didn't secure the hatch all the way in the latch groove as it blew off 10 seconds into the flight. As I mentioned earlier I use a small screw now just in case.
Yes you would be...

RE: Great Planes Sequence F3A

Do you have an incidence meter to check the stab in relation to the wing? If not beg borrow or steal one, mine was within 1/4 of a degree, not enough to be altered IMO.
I see T.H. has them listed...

RE: Great Planes Sequence F3A

I have to say Malcolmm regardless of more trim than I'd like it still flys like an arrow so maybe your trim is a lot more than mine.

I'm impressed with Phoenix ARFs, no issues at all. I have 7...

RE: Great Planes Sequence F3A

Is the above the same as using an incidence meter? I checked both wings in relation to the stab and they were both virtually the same. Your method is probably more exacting than a Robart meter....

RE: Would you pay more for US made ARF''s?

"buy abroad"

Sad but most RC things are made abroad. Check your radio and voila, Tawian, Korea and China made. Unfortunately without one you won't be needing US made planes. I'd buy a Kraft or...

RE: Would you pay more for US made ARF''s?

Check out the Phoenix line of ARFs made in South Korea and retailed by Towers Hobbies. Just completed an electric conversion and early flights of their Extra 300S 57.5" WS. The quality and...

RE: Turborix 2.4 Ghz 6 Channel radio

Yes you can and more if you wish. You might want to consider the HK-7X which has programmable features that may be needed for your application.

RE: does voltage affect power in a battrey?

Thx RPG, you've confirmed what I saw when bench testing my setup. Wattsup meter showed battery voltage dropped quite susbstantially when throttle pushed to the limit such as was required for takeoff....

RE: does voltage affect power in a battrey?

I have a question on C rating which I couldn't find mentioned here. I purchased a 3950mah 12C 4s battery which in theory should supply up to 47.4A. Turns out it wasn't good enough to lift a 4lb model...

RE: Great Planes Sequence F3A

This is the first plane I've used pull pull rudder. Noticed what sounded like flutter today (6th flight so far) when attempting knife edge so completed the flight without using any more rudder. Found...

RE: Great Planes Sequence F3A

Maidened mine today as weather finally was agreeable. Mine came in at just under 4lb with a 2700mah 4s, 800mah 3s RX battery & UBEC. Required a lot of trim, up elevator and left aileron so was dicey...

RE: I have a fear of lipos..

Perhaps it's calibration that's needed. Both my chargers are able to be checked against a known true source and recalibrated to the 12.6 level which I do occasionally. Usually only out by .01 or .02v...

RE: I have a fear of lipos..

Buy or borrow a Fluke digital meter. However I have found my Wattsup meter is right on with my Fluke and more often than not I use the Wattsup as my volt meter..

RE: I have a fear of lipos..

That's the same with me, 4.6 is high from what I've read also. I've yet to see a cell stay at 4.2 when taken off my chargers. Maybe you can push more into them using unconventional means, with...

RE: I have a fear of lipos..

I can balance charge four 11.1v lipos at once with the two chargers using spltters. The chargers see them as a six cell lipos. Other than that two lipos at a time using both chargers. A MaxPro may be...

RE: I have a fear of lipos..

That pretty well checks out the same with mine Joey. They tend to settle down to that 12.5 overnight even if they were higher, say 12.58 right off charge. I don't buy $100 batteries. Usually $25 -...

RE: I have a fear of lipos..

Hello Joey, as an experienced lipo user could you comment on my post #6 related to cells not peaking to 4.2v. Tired packs or normal degradation?
