RE: Parallel Cells - NiCd and NiMH

I'm with J_R, post this in the battery forum, you'll get the full answer. But the short, sweet answer is: internal resistance.

RE: US 120 Tried to undress in the air yesterday.

Yeah,
I've got a Tsunami with a Rossi .40 w/Tuned Pipe. Twice now, this screamer has shed it's Ultracote. Once was very violent, it originated at the cutout for the LG mount, and tore back to the...

RE: HELP, Shear Web Installations

Hooked,
I hope I'm mis-reading your post. 3 shear webs is overkill.

Given that I am misreading your post, then here's my answer, and why: I place them
'close'. Within an 1/8" or so of...

RE: Direct Connection Wing Rib Patterns Wanted

Spartksaflyin,
I'm on my second rebuild of my Tsunami, currently building w/ribs re-drawn from the crashed plane. Could you see to it that I get a copy of yours? It'd save me much trouble. I...

Nodda newbie question, flying over pits

RJChip,
' What I intended to refer to is that there isn't much fruit to be gotten over debating all of these possible scenarios'

You're right.

Nodda newbie question, flying over pits

Flyboy,
Foul! Error! Shame!
Context, flying by myself, at home.....
Here's my original text:
"I sometimes fly almost directly at myself, then pull up to a half-loop into inverted flight. Note I...

Nodda newbie question, flying over pits

RJChip,
I don't mean to nitpick, and didn't see it as such. But just look at the variety of answers to this somewhat simple question. There are those that are sure that a plane right over your...

Nodda newbie question, flying over pits

BasinBum,
I think you are right, no one has pointed out how a plane 50' in the air doing 80+ mph is going to end up in the pits from directly overhead. The only way I see this happening is if the...

Nodda newbie question, flying over pits

Guys,
I've finally worked up the guts to ask this question, so here it is. I'
m prepared to be referred to in whatever manner you wish.

Why is it unsafe to fly over the pits?
I would think...

Cost to scratch build

ProfLooney,
Thanks, now I know. Does seem kinda silly, since scratch-building doesn't accurately cover the difference in difficulty encountered when 'scratching' a stik-plane vs a scale F-4.

Cost to scratch build

Bill,
Then what is building from someone else's plans?

I'm not offended in any way, and couldn't really care less, but would like to know how to describe what I do.

Wall wart charge indicator

Smallfly,
Zener and 600 ohm resistor is not the way to go.....
(Besides, 2 regular diodes back-to-back will give you 1.2v)
Here's the basic idea:

The resistor/LED assembly must drop the...

Cost to scratch build

gjs,
Sure, that's another great thing about doing it yourself:
You can do it the way you want, build as cheaply as you want. Alternatively, you could build a scale plane that you couldn't afford...

Cost to scratch build

iFLYrc_Vic,
I understand your points.
Let me add that your time is worth what someone else is willing to pay, not you.
But NO, I would not sell you my plane for the same cost as the ARF. I...

Cost to scratch build

iFLYrc_Vic,
I don't count labor to build planes. It's not fair, it's a crazy idea, and I don't care.

It's not fair: I can build faster than some, slower than others; better than some.

It's a...

AAAAaHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

This is going to be like the ARF vs Kit debate, but I gotta say it:

DON'T TAKE GARLIC PILLS!

Do it yourself, it's so much more fun. Garlic is great on almost everything, (except Ice Cream!), I...

Cost to scratch build

tonyc,
I don't mean to pick you apart, after all we're on the same side. Some of your numbers did see, worth reviewing, though.

Plans $50- Got 'em, have drawn 'em, don't think I'd pay that much...

Cost to scratch build

Guys,
I've seen several remarks from the ARF crowd about "I couldn't scratch-build one for that price", or maybe it was "build a kit for that price."

Either way, has anyone ever kept track,...

bad mixed epoxy

lennyk,
try a little heat; not too much, I find that a 60w bulb in a silver fixture focuses enough heat to help speed drying, curing, etc.
If you have a heat gun, you could use it too.

Misuse of HS225BB?

John,
I realize that the flutter was the source of the failure. As I pointed out, I'd replaced the servos because the old ones were sloppy, and flutter had developed where none had been before.
